Partnering Paws is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals through the assistance of specially-trained canines. We have experienced first-hand the psychological and physical benefits that dogs add to a person’s life. We strongly believe in the human-animal bond and are committed to providing safe and connected assistance dog teams and innovative intervention programs. 

Founder and Instructor

Shelby Zimmerman

Shelby is a guide dog mobility instructor, animal-assisted interventions technician, certified orientation and mobility instructor, and teacher of students with a visual impairment. Her interest in dog training and the field of disabilities first started in 2003 when she began raising guide dog puppies in training and has expanded exponentially since then. She recently returned from developing and teaching a guide dog mobility instructor course in Uruguay.

With an undergraduate degree in sociology and a master degree in special education, Shelby has worked professionally with individuals of all ages with various disabilities since 2010. She specializes in rehabilitation for individuals with a visual impairment and has extensive experience assessing and working with students with multiple disabilities.
